An additional HOT will run at Macquarie Fields HS on the 22nd and 23rd September - with THREE workshop options:
1. Interfacing Arduino with controllers, actuators and sensors
Members $350
Maximum Number = 18 Participants
In this course, we will make three projects, a simple robotic arm, a simple automatic opening garbage bin and a room proximity sensor triggered by distance.
This course teaches the basics of interfacing sensors to the Arduino board and provides some yr 9 IT Engineering control/mechanisms projects as well as a stage 4 coding project. Participants will need to supply a laptop.
2. Timber Upskilling
Members $350
Maximum Number = 15 Participants
In this course, participants will focus on the art of fine box making suitable for late yr 10 through to HSC projects. Participants will learn the skills to construct a pre designed box, which will include a range of joinery techniques and surface applications such as book matching and veneering.
We will also cover surface finishing and sharpening techniques for the required tools.
Participants will be required to bring a cabinet scraper, 1in bevel edge chisel (the older the better), No 5 plane, green cutting mat, scalpel and a 300mm steal rule with 180 grit abrasive glued to the back of it.
3. Skilling You for Metal Technology – Stage 5
Members $350
Maximum Number = 10 Participants
This course is designed to develop the correct skills to teach Metal Technology
Projects to be completed:
Knurled Centre Punch
Hacksaw (Full Size)
With these two projects, you will you will develop a broad range of practical and class management skills to successfully teach these Projects.
Note: please bring your own PPE:
- Safety glasses
- Ear muffs (optional)
- Solid shoes
- Appropriate workshop clothing
- If you have long hair - it must be tied back
