Registration

  • This course focuses on both coding C++ and electronics to a level required to deliver stage 4 projects with confidence.
A TWO DAY Professional Development event HOT will run at Lucas Heights Community School on 29th & 30th June.

Hands On Tech (HOT) are two day immersive sessions that allow you to learn new techniques with experts, required materials and equipment. 

'Hands on Technology' Two day course will contribute 10 hours of NESA Registered PD addressing 6.2.2, 6.3.2, 7.4.2 from the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers towards maintaining Proficient Accreditation in NSW.

1. Intermediate Joinery - 10 person capacity - $550

This course looks at developing moderate joinery skills through making a detailed box that includes dovetailing and stopped housing, with a fitted lid, working with exotic timbers.

A variation on our popular "advanced joinery" course.


2. Arduino for Beginners - $450

Teaching Arduino requires a working knowledge of:

- coding in C++, and;
- basic electronics

This course focuses on both of these and delivers the knowledge required to deliver stage 4 projects with confidence.


Note: Participants will need to supply
  • a laptop with wireless access and
  • arduino IDE installed.

  • Note that DET laptops must be pre-loaded with this software AND all drivers.
  • An old (eg:2008 DET) laptop is perfectly OK. Linux loaded on this machine will run arduino with all drivers, and revive a machine that is no longer supported by the DET. (This must be done prior to arrival and full instructions will be given.)





Note: please bring your own PPE if you are doing workshop activities, this includes:

  • Safety glasses
  • Ear muffs 
  • Solid shoes
  • Appropriate workshop clothing
  • If you have long hair - it must be tied back
