iTE Teacher Excellence Award

The iTE Teacher Excellence Award recognises outstanding classroom teachers who demonstrate excellence in Technologies education and make a significant and lasting impact on their students, school community and the teaching profession.

The award celebrates teachers who inspire curiosity, develop practical capability, foster creativity and prepare students for lifelong learning through high-quality Technologies education.

Applicants must:

  • have a minimum of five (5) years full-time teaching experience
  • be a current financial member of iTE
  • be employed as a full-time teacher
  • teach within the Technologies KLA
  • be self-nominated.


Applicants will be assessed on the following criteria:

Philosophy of Technologies Education

Demonstrate a clear philosophy of Technologies education and articulate how their teaching prepares students for the future.

Excellence in Teaching Practice

Demonstrate exemplary classroom and workshop practice through:

  • deep curriculum knowledge
  • engaging learning experiences
  • safe and effective practical teaching
  • strong assessment and feedback practices
  • effective differentiation
  • positive relationships with students.

Student Impact

Provide evidence that their teaching has made a measurable difference to students through:

  • increased engagement
  • improved learning outcomes
  • development of practical skills
  • confidence and resilience
  • successful pathways beyond school
  • authentic student reflections.

Leadership and Contribution

Demonstrate leadership within their faculty, school, iTE or the broader education community through mentoring, collaboration and supporting colleagues.

Applicants will submit:

1. Professional Statement

A 500-word statement outlining their philosophy of Technologies education and how they meet the selection criteria.

2. Classroom Showcase Video

A five-minute video highlighting:

  • classroom and workshop practice
  • student learning
  • teaching philosophy
  • learning environment

3. Professional Portfolio

A portfolio (maximum 10 pages) including examples of:

  • teaching programs
  • learning activities
  • assessment tasks
  • student work samples
  • feedback strategies
  • evidence of student learning

4. Student Voice

Evidence of student feedback demonstrating the impact of the applicant's teaching.

Examples may include:

  • written testimonials
  • surveys
  • student reflections
  • short video excerpts

5. Colleague Endorsement

A written endorsement from a colleague, Head Teacher, Head of Department or Principal describing the applicant's contribution to Technologies education and the school community.


Nominations must be made using the iTE President’s email address president@iiate.asn.au by 25th September 2026 to be considered by the Awards Team
